A talk exploring the Amber Film and Photography Collective’s role in saving many buildings on Newcastle’s quayside.
In this talk accompanying the Farrell Centre’s current display, Amber: Documenting Place, Laura Laffler, Managing Director of Amber Film and Photography Collective, explores how collective members, including Graham Smith and Sirkka-Liisa Konttinen, contributed to the preservation of the Newcastle quayside. Through their photographic works and the film Quayside (part of the current display), Smith and Konttinen captured the area’s character at a pivotal moment, drawing attention to its cultural and historical value and helping secure listed status for many buildings.
Teas and coffees will be provided afterwards.
