Explore filmmaking processes with Artist Alice Highet’s film Innerscapes.
Innerscapes provides an insight into artist and researcher Alice Highet’s film making process and displays the results of a public moving image workshop. Using smartphones to expand our receptivity and awareness across the senses, Highet makes use of everyday fast tech (smartphones) to empower participants to create their own slow art.
Highet’s process references the idea of Deep Listening (P. Oliveros, 2005) by employing a kind of deep looking, using technology, walking and drawing to record and engage with the environment.
About the contributor:
Alice Highet is an artist, educator and researcher, currently undertaking a PhD at Newcastle University.
About the Symposium:
The Sound and Environment Symposium has been organised by Newcastle University’s Sound + Environment Research Group, exploring the ways sound can deepen our understanding of environments and the communities inhabiting them.
