8th December – Festive Farrell: Willow Lanterns

Embrace wintery nights with your handmade Willow Lantern.

During this Festive workshop we will learn the historic craft of willow lantern making. This technique is used across the world during celebrations, particularly during the winter and summer solstices.

We will think about the different ways to construct our lanterns, bending strips of willow and covering them with tissue paper.

You will learn how to think architecturally, working in both 2 and 3 dimensions and come away with a beautiful lantern to hang in your window throughout the winter.

This workshop is suitable for everyone aged over 7 years.
