Architectures yet to come

Friday 14 June17.00–17.45

Join us at the discussion prior to the opening of the 2024 Degree Show exploring the future of architecture as an interdisciplinary practice.

The complexities of the challenges that face the built environment are causing architecture to adapt and evolve becoming ever more interdisciplinary. ‘Architecture’ now encompasses everything from sustainability, heritage and conservation to public service delivery planning and virtual environment design.

While necessarily reflecting the changing world in which architecture today operates, one of the consequences of this increasing interdisciplinarity is the difficulty of forming shared spaces and common agendas that are vital to architecture’s professional relevance and societal agency.

In this event, speakers from different branches of the architectural discipline reflect on the ways we might bring together disparate and wide-ranging approaches to design, planning and research in order to forge new hybrid forms of practice. How can we extend and reimagine what we understand as ‘architecture’ while remaining true to its underlying values and ethics?
