Architecture and planning are central to answering many of the big questions facing the world today, so it’s vital everyone has a voice in the conversation about their future.

We offer a vibrant programme of workshops for school groups in Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. Whether you’re looking for an exhibition tour, a hands-on making session or a creative writing activity, our workshops offer your pupils new ways of looking at the city and world around them, whilst also working in sync with the National Curriculum.

City Forum

A monthly meeting where the local community can come together to discuss pressing issues relating to the built environment in Tyneside, whether a new development, traffic issues, or ways to improve wellbeing. You can watch previous talks online here.

At the Farrell Centre, there’s something for all the family. We offer regular hands-on workshops at the weekend and during half term and holidays suitable for a broad range of ages, plus sessions for babies, toddlers – and their parents, of course – during the week.

Young people

Central to our mission is to inspire the next generation of architects, designers, engineers, planners and city-makers. We offer after-school and weekend clubs for young people interested in learning more about the city and what role they might play in shaping its future.

We offer talks ranging in subject and duration: from 15-minute ‘spotlights’ and lectures on local history to insights into cutting-edge research and presentations by international architects and city planners.
