Our current exhibition transforms Farrell Centre galleries into live making spaces.
Check out the immersive installations and connect with the process of building and making via a host of drop-in activities, including Wallpaper Printing, Build Challenges, and Collage Marquetry.
Urban Rooms
Open Wed–Sun
The city belongs to everyone. And everyone should have a voice in the conversation about its future.
We have created the Urban Rooms to help make that possible, with something for all ages, including a display of maps of Tyneside over the centuries, exquisite architectural models, interactive activities, free making materials, soft play, Lego – and much more!
Virtual Builders: Minecraft club
Sat 10 and Sat 24 August
Take part in design and build challenges and meet other gamers at the Farrell Centre’s new Minecraft club.
For each session, Farrell Centre staff will set Minecraft design and build challenges for participants and offer a space for gamers and their parents to come together and share the worlds they have created.
Fix-It Cafe
Sun 11 August
The Fix-it Café provides a space for people to come together to mend, chat and share expertise.
These sessions will be facilitated by Marek Gabrysch who will be able to offer his fixing expertise. Spare zips, buttons, threads and screws will be available!
Printing with Light
Wed 7 August
Run by Newbridge Print, in this workshop we will learn about the magical process of Cyanotype printing.
We will create constructions using building materials from our exhibition, and then play with light and shadows to create our prints – blurring the line between object and image.
Makers Manuals
Thur 25 July and 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 August
Join us at these drop-in workshops using STORE’s Makers Manuals, which encourage everyone to start making from what’s around them.
Farrell Centre staff will provide materials (and copies of the manuals) and help you to make everything from Bamboo Coat Hooks and Wildflower Bricks to Handmade Inks and DIY Brushes.
