Summer Workshops
Thursdays throughout Summer
Boxrooms – Using a mix of recycled materials, we invite you to design your own ‘boxroom’ and contribute to our high-rise housing structure. Will you make a cosy living space, a cool kitchen or a beautiful bathroom?
15-minute Maps – can you map out everything in your world 15 minutes from your home? Use our special stamps and stencils to add your own landmarks to your map – perhaps you pass a statue, a Metro station or the Farrell Centre!
Urban Zines – Create your own zine using collage and printing. Each session will focus on a housing issue affecting young people, from play spaces to designing for nature
Workshops are drop-in, no booking required. Suitable for 7+.

Urban Rooms
The city belongs to everyone. And everyone should have a voice in the conversation about its future.
We have created the Urban Rooms to help make that possible, with something for all ages, including a display of maps of Tyneside over the centuries, exquisite architectural models, interactive activities, free making materials, soft play, Lego – and much more!
On the warmer days of the holidays, we’ll be bringing play to our outside space, where you can use the creates, bricks and chalks to design your dream summer city!
Architectural Explorer Bags

We’re excited to relaunch our popular Architectural Explorer bags.
They’re full of creative and engaging activities for younger visitors, from measuring to texture-hunting! Little ones can use the prompts to explore the centre from a difference perspective. Ask a member of the team for a bag on your next visit.

Neighbourhood Wall
Throughout Summer
Help us create a shared artwork as we invite our visitors to contribute to our neighbourhood wall. Decorate a ceramic tile which reflects your hopes and aspirations for where you live, display on our wall and watch it evolve throughout Summer!
