Sound + Environment Symposium

Thurs 4 Sep – Sat 6 Sep 2025

Sound + Environment Symposium

Join us on the 4th – 6th September 2025, for an exciting programme of installations, workshops and events organised by Newcastle University’s Sound + Environment Research Group.

Spanning across arts and sciences, the Sound + Environment Research Group works to explore the ways that sound can deepen our understanding of environments and the communities inhabiting them.

Through exploring scientific and artistic approaches together, we can engage with sound and listening to create complementary ways of investigating, understanding, and taking action.

Explore the programme of installations and workshops taking place across the Farrell Centre, Newcastle University Campus and Wild Roots Community Garden and become immersed in new sonic environments.

The installations on show at the Farrell Centre and programme of workshops have been curated by the Sound + Environment Research Group following an open call that saw an amazing range of international and interdisciplinary responses.
