Share your memories of the Claremont Buildings, home of the Farrell Centre.
Join us for a special pop-up display celebrating the everyday histories of the Claremont Buildings. Before opening as the Farrell Centre in 2023, this Grade II listed building had functioned as a department store, student book shop, housed Newcastle University’s medical centre and chaplaincy, and even offered living quarters on its top floor.
We’re inviting visitors to share their memories of the Claremont Buildings which will contribute to the display. Did you study here in the 1980s and use the services? Perhaps you purchased a book from Thorne’s in the 1950s? Maybe you enjoyed a beverage at Quilliam Brothers in the 2000s? We’d love to hear your memories.
