Hazel Barron-Cooper will display a series of large scale watercolours made in response to rural landscapes.
The paintings focus on significant historic sites in Northumberland Durgam and the Isel of Sado, Japan. Using coded symbols Barron-Cooper documents the sounds of birds, water, weather, animals, people encountered on these rural walks.
About the Contributor:
Hazel Barron-Cooper is an artist based in North East England and currently a PhD researcher in Fine Art at Newcastle University.
About the Symposium:
The Sound and Environment Symposium has been organised by Newcastle University’s Sound + Environment Research Group, exploring the ways sound can deepen our understanding of environments and the communities inhabiting them.
