Join underwater sound artist David de la Haye to listen beneath the surface of a local pond and become a citizen-scientist for the day.
Scattered widely across our landscape, these small waterbodies contain the secret communications of amphibians, invertebrates, fish, and even plants.
The recordings you make during this short, informal workshop could contribute to eco-acoustic research. The awe and wonder of freshwater life awaits!
About the contributor:
David de la Haye, contemporary musician, field recordist, sound technician and PhD researcher at Newcastle University.
About the Symposium:
The Sound and Environment Symposium has been organised by Newcastle University’s Sound + Environment Research Group, exploring the ways sound can deepen our understanding of environments and the communities inhabiting them.
